We’ve been travelling a bunch lately but not with work, but with extreme relax time. I wonder what our son Eli thinks about what Mom and Dad do. We are either working nonstop or vacationing nonstop. The last 3 weeks have been doing as much as we can before the whirlwind starts again. Here are some photos from our “summering”.
An ad we shot for Motorola with Anomaly is on the back of this week’s LA Weekly! We knew they were running because we already saw them in some other mags, but for some reason it just looks so rad on the back of LA’s free newspaper. It was a great (but super last minute) shoot that came together in less than a week. Anomaly asked if we could pull off a show at a club where basically the crowd is super excited but it needs to look as crowded and of course, as real as possible. So we put out the word to friends on the Facebook, the Day19Twitter, sent out about 200 text messages and it all came together brilliantly. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our friends coming out, our fantastic agents for going above and beyond what any other agent would do, Jim for letting us use The Smelland without the good folks at Anomaly and Motorola believing we could pull off what we promised we could (with 2 days notice). Everyone was super stoked with the outcome, a bunch of people came out and got to stage dive for maybe their first and/or last time, and our good buddy Mickey is now in ads running all over the world! Yes, THIS Mickey.
Just watched the new OK GO video and we’re proud of the dudes. They never cease to amaze us when it comes to pulling off their ideas. I’m glad they call us when they need pictures done. “Can we get a mini horse? Of course” Above photo is from the last press shoot we did with them, below is their new video. Enjoy.
Do yourself a favor and check out the video above of our talented friend Jennifer play a song in Elysian Park, and then double that favor to yourself and tune in to Jeremy’s radio show tonight at 7PM to hear her play some songs live in the studio. http://www.GTFUradio.com, click listen @ 7 and it will play in your iTunes.
Check these kids out, Volapike. Our make-up artist slash great friend Amy Chance’s son Dakota is 15 and in the band, the oldest one being 16. They came over for a quick photo shoot on the roof the other day dressed to the T. Have a listen to their music, you won’t believe they are 15. We brought Dakota with us as “an assistant” to shoot his favorite band My Chemical Romance years ago to stoke him out when he was 11 or 12. Sorry to blow up your spot Dakota.
We have a friend named Dallas Clayton, he wrote a book called ““An Awesome Book” that you should already own by now. We met Dallas years ago when he approached us at the Hollywood Farmer’s Market and asked if we wanted to buy a copy of his ‘zine. No one had asked us to buy a ‘zine in ages so of course we said “of course”. The ‘zine was all about how he was about to have a baby w/ his girlfriend Shannyn and all the emotions and craziness that go along with finding out you are going to be a father. I fell in love with it and have read it multiple times. His son Audio (you may know him from such things as THIS, or maybe THIS) is now 6 and he’s still writing things that make us proud to be friends, like his very awesome book. Dallas recently started the Awesome World Foundation and well…you should just watch this video to hear him tell his story, and then you should share it with the world. Good job Dallas.
It’s been a great week. Eli’s been hanging out in the parks of NYC, we’ve been seeing photos of billboards we shot for Smirnoff popping up all over the world, we may be traveling to the other side of the world next week, our assistant is running topless in Levi’s ads all over NY, there was a surprise birthday party for me in BKLYN, another rooftop jam in the BK, we’ve reunited with so many great east coast friends, AND we’re going to the Sussex County Fair Friday! Let’s keep this going.
