Two weeks ago we flew to NYC to embark on a top secret mission of shooting a new project with Google (Google them if you haven’t heard of them). We had rain, we had slush, we had a foot of snow and temperatures into the teens, we had winds that broke over a dozen umbrellas. But we were able to shoot some great photos despite the worst of conditions and are super proud to be responsible for the images that are launching one of the craziest products ever into the world (less than 2 weeks after the shoot!). Thanks Google and CAA for bringing us on for this project, you are all great people. Here are 2 photos from the shoot and you can see more on Day19.com under “new work”.

Next up, we’re shooting in Aspen for a week! Where the beer flows like wine.

Shot these in NY last spring.

Thanks to Photo District News for once again choosing us for their Photo Annual! This time for advertising and editorial! We’re 4 for 4 with with this one and actually might make the party this year. Also, Thanks to Natalie Flemming for giving a shout out to our gallery in the same issue.

We’ve been travelling a bunch lately but not with work, but with extreme relax time. I wonder what our son Eli thinks about what Mom and Dad do. We are either working nonstop or vacationing nonstop. The last 3 weeks have been doing as much as we can before the whirlwind starts again. Here are some photos from our “summering”.

It’s summer, get on the roof.

We just got the issue of The Wire we shotMadlib for and it looks incredible! We are super excited, one because we love The Wire, two because they chose so many photos to run full page, three because we never get cover shoots so that’s exciting in itself, and four because it was such an awesome day. Check out bad scans of the layout and larger photos after the jump… plus a bonus outtake I dug.
In other news we just photographed Mariachi El Bronx in downtown Los Angeles for some Australian magazines and general press. We also shot ex members of Panic at the Disco Ryan Ross & Jon Walker in the studio for their new project. It also looks like we’ll be spending the rest of the summer in NYC, more on that soon.
Oh, and that contest is ending any minute now.

Our long time pal Louise Sturgess is having one of those displays of her pictures tonight in New York. Please go check it out and say hello for us. And speaking of New York, we’ll be there next week for a couple days. Let us know if you want to hang out. Follow our Twitter
so you can find out where we’re at…always. We need some more stalkers.

Our buddy Raymond brought us a couple of these last night. That’s our photo of Pops, on the cover! I think it’s just the special Converse cover but still, looks amazing I think. It’s a book on the history of skate shoes and it’s almost as good as Disposable. Almost. Look for it!

Almost 2 years ago Claire and I started a project shooting portraits of people we thought were basically “doing cool shit in the world”. We decided to use 4″x5″ Polaroid Type 79 and shoot 1 photo each, no retouches, no retakes, and very basic color correction. One day we hope to publish a book of all of them but for now it’s enough to just meet and photograph all these amazing people. To see the whole thing visit Day19.com/PolaroidProject
