That time of year.
The time of the year of top 10 lists and best records of past year and so on. My favorite video of 2009… Happy New Year.

Monster Children

While in Australia we met and got to know the fine people who bring you Monster Children, the magazine. Chris, who everyone seems to call Hollywood, picked us up, showed us around and brought us to the offices like a gracious tour guide. Hollywood, Campbell and Lucy are some really swell folks. Seriously, how great is it that the people who make one of the best magazines in the world are also such great people? We all share too many similarities it’s crazy. Anyway, I don’t want to blow too much smoke up their arses, it just rules to meet people who get it like they do. Good job Monster Childreners, can’t wait to see you in the states. More phodos after the jump.

Thank You Australia…

For a great time. We won two Logie Awards while we were here for being the most popular people on Australian television. They’ll go on the shelf next to our MTV Movie Awards and Oscars. We met so many great people and the Dodgers are going to round two. Will it be a Dodgers/Angels series? You ready Andy? A grip of photos to come when we get back to LA and the internet isn’t so painfully slow.
Stay tuned.

We did it.

We spoke at the Semi-Permanent event today and it was pretty amazing. Definitely felt like I was going to puke and pass out before we took the stage but after a bit I was fine. People even laughed and our stupidity! It was a great event and I suggest everyone taking part. Oh, and while in Melbourne we found the Kum Den.

Thank you Australia.
Melbizza.

We are here safe (stop worrying!) in Melbourne, on the flight over you could watch a camera from the tail for the whole 15 hours if you chose to, we didn’t. We tried to sleep, worked slightly well. In two days we speak our hearts out on stage in front of thousands, we are prepared. And excited. See us here www.semipermanent.com if you are in Melbourne and want to hear us talk, or buy us a drink and hear us talk even more. Lots o’ photos soon! Need sleep.
We’re having our own photo contest…

I was reading on someone’s flickr page today that they were saving up for a digital SLR and came up with the brilliant idea of having a contest to give one away. We have this old Canon 5D we haven’t used in over a year (we have taken many many photos with it so it’s by no means brand new but is in great condition) and instead of letting it just hang there we decided to give it away to a photographer in need of a new camera. Here’s how it works… First, join the Day19 Facebook group @ Day19FacebookGang and then send your five favorite lo-res (500px wide @ 72dpi is good) photographs (should be obvious, but it’s photographs of your own) to [email protected]. You have to be a member of the Facebook Day19 gang to enter. Why? Because. Second, we’ll pick out our top 5 favorites and post them on this here blog with your information and everything and people can vote on who wins. The winner can then trade us a big print (the contest is really to get something new that we like to hang on our wall) of the photo for that lovely Canon 5D with the fancy grip on the bottom. Sound good? You have to send us photos by July 15th, we’ll post them shortly after.
New! Our friends at Crumpler Bags have jumped on board and are giving away a free photo bag to the winner as well.
The calm before the storm.

Figured we’d post a couple shots we just got developed from the past month. Starting this week we’re shooting a catalog and 2 ad campaigns over 11 days so we may not be getting much time to blog. All of these photos are straight off the CD they give you after developing your film at the Kodak Imaging Center in Glendale. Thanks Sheffield for clueing us in on that place.
Photo above is Devin and Stacey at their house up 2 flights of stairs in Echo Park.
