Our work schedule the past couple years has been pretty hectic and leaves no chance of actually planning a vacation ahead of time so as a family we do as many last minute trip as possible. I randomly called Refugio State Beach to see if there were any cancellations for the weekend and timed it perfectly as a church group had to cancel last minute on a 30 person campsite. We didn’t really need a site that big for the 3 of us but we took it and instantly texted everyone we knew to see if they were down for a last minute beach side camping adventure and of course a whole lot of people were. Here’s a bunch of random photos from the weekend.

If you don’t follow us on the Instagram or if we aren’t Facebook friends, here’s a little Day19 update. After a crazy busy 2011 shooting some of the best work of our careers and working with old and new friends alike we decided to take the winter off. We bought a little cabin in the woods not too far from Los Angeles, drove our agency crazy by avoiding their calls, and decided to lay low in the woods, have some great family time and teach the kid to snowboard. For a kid who just turned 4 he’s quite the little ripper and half the mountain now knows us as Eli’s parents. It’s been awesome and rewarding and revived us a bit. We’re excited to be back in LA now and about to jump on some planes and get back to work but we’ll be up there again soon so if you want to come ride just get in touch.

A lot has been happening over here at the Day19 camp. Since Thanksgiving we have shot some great campaigns with the good folks at Sid Lee, Anomaly London, Leo Burnett, and Sid Lee again. Of course we can’t show anything yet but here are some photos taken on the days in between.

These days if we have more than 4 days off in a row we go on a family vacation. It’s a new Weiss rule. This week we went to the happiest place on earth, right down the 5.

Our son on set during a recent shoot for The Big S. Lot’s of new work coming soon to website. Maybe.

In the calm before the storm we decided to do a quick blog post of the past couple weeks or so. Things have been productive around the Day19 house. We did a super fun fashion story for Monster Children that comes out in early June. Can’t wait to show everyone, we couldn’t be happier with it. We also did a cover shoot for Blueprint magazine, our first shoot with A company I guess I can’t mention yet which was a week of good times with good folks. We also worked with MTV for the first time. Lot’s of firsts this month. We are headed to South Carolina this week to cover the 24 Hours of Lemons race where all cars must cost less than $500 then fly straight to SF for a week with one of our favorite shoe companies, then 2 back to backs in LA and then off to a shoot in NYC for a couple days! If you told us 5 years ago we would be this lucky with our picture taking career and be having as much fun as we are getting to work with an amazing and vast range of clients I would have called you insane. Thank you to everyone who likes our pictures and continues to support our dream. Following are a bunch of pictures that having nothing to do with what I just said. Oh, and we built a ramp.
Photo above is our good buddy Dallas reading his book at a huge kid’s book event that happened downtown.

Eli and Audio.

On Saturday we drove 45 minutes north to a place called Animal Acres for our buddy Alicia’s birthday party and to hang out with some animals. We were there once before with her (I think she brought us for Claire’s birthday?) a couple years ago and we actually photographed the founder for our Polaroid Project. Its a great place where they rescue abused farm animals and give them a great home. Check it out if you get a chance and make sure to pick up Alicia’s book if you get a chance. More photos after the jump.
