Happy 5th kid.

Our son turned 5 today and we were lucky enough to have a day off so we had a party at iFly. Off to Tokyo again tomorrow.

RIP JVH.

JVH

Recently we lost a great friend of ours Mr. Justin Van Hoy and I’ve been trying to write something here for over a week but the emotions were making it too hard. He honestly is one of the most genuine, gentle, selfless humans beings we have ever met. We first met Justin and his wife Holly when a mutual friend Roger Gastman called us out of the blue saying a good friend of his who had battled cancer once before had just found out it had come back and that he was going to marry his fiancé Holly the next day so she could visit him in the hospital 24 hours a day because he had to start treatment right away. He asked if we could document their wedding and we of course said of course and we were instantly a part of their family. After beating leukemia again through a bone marrow transplant Justin and I had become good friends. Claire and I visited Australia in 2010 and came back fully energized to do something more than taking pictures and came up with the crazy idea of opening a gallery and both of said the only way we could do it would be if Justin (and our other great friend Aaron Farley) were involved. They both agreed and we embarked on what is known as THIS los angeles. Justin really became the heart and soul of THIS and had a special knack for bringing people together. He recently published an amazing book called Milk and Honey. A book he was so proud of that celebrates the work of contemporary artists making work in California. A book that he spent countless hours on and didn’t even include a photo of himself in. Thats how great Justin is. Our lame excuse for words will never do this man justice but this photo of him I think says a lot. Justin passed away not from Leukemia which he beat twice. We are honored to be your friend Justin.

Love you buddy,
Jeremy & Claire.

#Day19summercamp

Early June we realized we’d be seeing our crew almost every single day since we booked 5 straight jobs that brought us through to September. It was either our lovely make-up artist Amy Chance or our equally as lovely stylist Djuna Bel who coined the term (hashtag) Day19 Summer Camp for Instagram etc. It was also those two ladies that decided to have theme days so we could all dress like idiots together. Here are a couple of my favorites. There are so many more I need to find. Hippie day is above.

Thanks to our friends and family at Leo Burnett, Sony, Apple, Attik, Bacardi, Adidas, and of course our amazing family that makes sure our shoots are incredible.

Here’s Will and what happens when you tell one of your assistants that they should at least get one stage dive in themselves after you think you’re done shooting. They get paid usage (twice) and end up on billboards from Times Square to Hollywood and Highland. Way to go Will.

Summer adventures: Bass Lake.

For this last minute summer adventure we rented a cabin in Bass Lake as we were driving up there. Bass Lake is one of the greatest places in California a new annual trip for sure. Bike, boats, swimming, sleeping outside under the stars. Can’t be beat. Another large group of random photos after the jump.

Shot these in NY last spring.

Summer adventures: Refugio.

Our work schedule the past couple years has been pretty hectic and leaves no chance of actually planning a vacation ahead of time so as a family we do as many last minute trip as possible. I randomly called Refugio State Beach to see if there were any cancellations for the weekend and timed it perfectly as a church group had to cancel last minute on a 30 person campsite. We didn’t really need a site that big for the 3 of us but we took it and instantly texted everyone we knew to see if they were down for a last minute beach side camping adventure and of course a whole lot of people were. Here’s a bunch of random photos from the weekend.

Thats a wrap.

What better way to end an almost all summer job than to dunk the creative director?
