“No war for Heavy Metal”

VBS.TV is putting together a fundraiser photo show for “the only heavy metal band from Baghdad” Acrassicauda who are currently in Syria and are likely going to get deported back to Iraq soon. That’s not good. So Vice, some artists (including us) and, perhaps most importantly, some generous patrons of the arts will be pitching in to help raise money to get them somewhere that’s not quite so wartorn. You can learn more about it at www.heavymetalinbaghdad.com.

Getting there.

Slowly getting around to putting up some old photos that have been sitting around while our little computer was in the hospital. This round is from a trip to San Francisco for the opening of our Polaroid Project @ Adobe Books. We drove up there the day after getting home from a shoot in NY and we had to frame the 80+ photos on the way. The same night as our opening was the opening of Chris Duncan’s amazing show @ the Gregory Lind Gallery so the timing couldn’t have been better. Thanks to Maggie and Dan at Adobe for making everything even possible. Photographic documentation of the night follows…

F*CK YEAH! the computer is fixed FEST.

So after weeks of the so called Apple Store geniuses at the having the Day19 mainframe they realized that they diagnosed it wrong and DIDN’T need to wait for all the parts that were backordered. Those guys there really are geniuses! They have never gotten one thing right when we’ve had computer problems, ever. Never ever. But enough ranting, having something other than a laptop and Blackberry again is great. here are month old photos from the Fuck Yeah Fest.

New York brings us to New Jersey.

We were shooting in the city of New York the week leading up to labor Day and got to go to our home state of New Jersey for Labor Day. My brother (who also lives in LA but was visting) had a party at our dad’s island house on the beautiful Lake Hopatcong. There was lots of food, potato launchers, and babies. Babies are everywhere these days I tell ya. Emelia is above.

back in Los Angeles, San Francisco Chronicle.

Finally back in Los Angeles for a couple days after going up to SF for the opening of our Polaroid Project. The SF Chronicle made it their “don’t miss” in their weekend magazine. Soooo, don’t miss it. Came home to a crapped out Quad G5er that is luckily still under AppleCare or it would have been $1700 to fix and the photos I had almost ready to put up of the F*ck Yeah Fest were on it so that’s gonna take another week. Here’s the write up in the Chronicle…

And we still have ‘zines left.

You can buy one HERE.

It’s been stupid hot in Los Angeles.

Start thinking about snow, Jeremy is. Big Bear 2007.

We’ve been getting to travel a bit working on an a little campaign we can’t talk about but we did get to go to North Carolina last week and shoot Jimmie Johnson. Don’t know much about Nascar but he’s a stellar guy in our book. We go up to Seattle this week (never been) to shoot some crab fisherman, from that show. That show I watched for 12 hours straight last 4th of July with my good buddy Brian in New Jersey.

We have 3 photos in the new issue of Vibe. The “Juice” issue, which means we’ve got juice. Been waiting to have the juice since Juice came out. Barack Obama’s on the cover.

Counting the days until this comes out. We’ll be first in line.

F*ck Yeah Fest this weekend, we did a funny photo of it’s founders last week for LA Times among other things you can see right HERE.

Family @ Family. Better late than never.

A couple weeks ago RJ had a realease party for his new book on Death Camp at Family. I can’t begin to explain what Death Camp is or was but it’s missed and very well documented in RJ’s book. Go pick up a copy, at Family. Michael Runion played, Brother Reade played. Needless to say it brought the east side to the west side in droves.
